The day of the all-important final examination is at hand. If Naruto manages to pass this final test, he will become an official ninja. Meanwhile, a Chuunin called Mizuka is planning to use Naruto in his scheme to steal the important Scroll of Sealing.

Naruto meets Konohamaru, a little boy, who wants to be known for something other than just for being the Hokage's grandson. This little boy reminds Naruto of himself. Naruto decides to take Konohamaru under his wing and pass down his knowledge of ninjutsu to him.

The day has come for Naruto to become an official ninja. New ninjas are assigned into groups of three. Naruto wishes to get into the same group as Sakura, the love of his life. Will his dream come true?

The sensei of Naruto's group is Kakashi Hatake, a Jounin, who for some reason has most of his face covered. Kakashi tells the group that they are to do survival training. But if only it were that easy. If they fail this test, they will be sent back to the academy.. and to make matters worse, only 9 out of 27 graduates who take the test will become Gennins, official lower class ninjas!

The survival training is in full swing. In order to pass the test, they must each steal a bell from Kakashi. However, Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura are going to find out that doing that isn't as easy as it sounds

After many, many seemingly pointless missions Naruto's group is finally given a more interesting mission. They are to escort man named Tazuna safely to a village in Country of Waves. They have barely started their journey when they are attacked by two ninjas. It's time for their first real fight!

The group finds out that the man who wants Tazuki dead is no other than the tyrannical leader of Wave Country. In order to do that, he must prevent the bridge from being completed. They have almost reached their destination when suddenly, they're attacked by a ninja wielding a giant blade. He seems to be an enemy of such calibre, that Kakashi finally has to reveal what is so special about his left eye.

The new enemy, Zabuza Momochi, seems to be much more powerful than the enemies our ninja group has previously fought. Zabuza uses his abilities to trap Kakashi in a watery cage. The only ones that can stop the enemy now are Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura.

Because of the clever plan thought out by Naruto, Kakashi is freed from his watery cage. He is going to reveal why he is called the Copy Ninja.

Zabuza is defeated. A mysterious person throws a kunai at unconscious Zabuza, grabs his body and quickly vanishes away. After all the confusion, it’s time for training. Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura train how to control their chakra. They try to run up a tree by solely focusing chakra energy on their feet.

After showing off her excellent chakra control by climbing up a tree in one try, Sakura escorts Tazuna to his home. Meanwhile, because of their competitive nature, Naruto and Sasuke refuse to stop training.

Kakashi, Sasuke and Sakura arrive at the bridge only to find several dead workers. What is going on? Naruto meets Inari, a boy who lost the man who was like a father to him. In order to lift his spirits, Naruto is determined to prove him that heroes still do exist.

It seems that Zabuza didn't die after all! The person, who threw a kunai at Zabuza's unconscious body, was his subordinate. A battle commences. Sasuke seems to have the upper hand in the battle against Haku. But the tables turn when Haku performs his Secret Jutsu, Demonic Ice Mirrors. Sasuke is in trouble, Kakashi is busy fighting Zabuza and Sakura is protecting Tazuna. Will Naruto be able to help Sasuke?

Both Naruto and Sasuke are inside Haku's cage made of ice mirrors. Haku's incredible speed while moving from mirror to mirror is causing Naruto and Sasuke problems. Is there any way to defeat this boy?

Kakashi is going at it with Zabuza. With his Sharingan he seems unbeatable. However, after Zabuza figures out secret of the Sharingan, he is able to counter it with a technique of his own. The battle just got a lot tougher for Kakashi

Under huge pressure, both Naruto and Sasuke gain new powers. Will they be enough to defeat Haku?

The demon sealed inside Naruto has given him extraordinary powers. Haku's ice prison is shattered into pieces, leaving him defenseless. Naruto realizes that the person he had been fighting against all this time, was in fact the same person he met earlier in the forest.

Determined to finish Zabuza off, Kakashi focuses all his energy on one single strike.

With his last ounce of energy, Zabuza kills the leader of Gatou’s mercenaries. Zabuza’s last wish is to see Haku one last time. Kakashi carries Zabuza next to Haku’s lifeless body. The mission has ended. Tazuna can finish building the bridge in peace. It’s time for the group to travel back to Konoha.

Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura are back in Konoha. Again, their missions consist of various odd jobs. They meet several ninjas that they haven’t seen before. Apparently they’ve come to Konoha in order to participate in the upcoming Chuunin selection exams.

Kakashi informs Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura that they as well are going to take part in the Chuunin selection exam

Our group meets Rock Lee, a rather peculiar boy, who is going to take part in the upcoming exams as well. The situation escalates and Lee challenges Sasuke into a duel. Sasuke can’t keep up with Lee’s supernatural speed. If the participants in the Chuunin exam are going to be of this calibre, will our group of ninjas have any chance to survive?

Our group arrives to the exam site. They see both familiar and strange faces. They meet a helpful ninja, Kabuto Yakushi, who is participating in the exam for the seventh time. Kabuto shares the data he has collected with Naruto.

Naruto is shocked to learn that the first part of the selection exam is a written test. And the worst part is that if even one member of the groups of three fails to pass the test, all three members will be disqualified! The spotlight is in Naruto as he is the least likely person to pass this excruciating test.

Naruto is in deep trouble. Time is running out and he hasn't managed to answer a single question yet. Fortunately, the test examiner gives Naruto some hope when he announces the rules for the special, last question. Answer correctly and you will get through to the next part, but answer incorrectly and you will be a Gennin for the rest of your life.
